Shurugwi Town Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill in the following position which is vacant in Council.
POSITION REF: HOUSING AND COMMUNITY OFFICER 05/2021 (GRADE 14)
This is a senior position reporting directly to the Town Secretary and needs someone who is mature, qualified, experienced, responsible and capable of dealing with a diverse community.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure the efficient management of the department’s various sections including Solid Waste, Housing, Health, Community Services, Parks and Gardens and Municipal Police Sections through the respective Section Heads.
- To ensure financial control and undertake budget preparation for the Department
- To prepare monthly reports on delegated issues for submission to Council and annual reports for the Department
- To ensure that the department’s staff are properly supervised
- To plan and manage the Council’s Housing Stock and Land Bank
- To maintain the Housing Waiting List
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Social Science, or Equivalent Degree from reputable University
- At-least 5 years’ experience of Senior Management preferable in a Local Government fraternity
- A relevant Master’sDegree is an added advantage
- Membership of a recognized Professional Institution
- A clean Class Four Driver’s License
- Sound appreciation of the Legislation that govern Housing and Environmental Management
- Mature individual, at least 30 years of age, with clean record of service and high integrity
