Shurugwi is a town situated 33km from Midlands’ Provincial capital of Gweru City. It has a population of 23500. It is endowed with natural resources, which has not been used to its advantage. If there are explored to the maximum Shurugwi can expand to become a large urban centre. The investment opportunities in this regard include;

Shurugwi town council is a body cooperate established in terms of the urban councils act 29:15 and subsequently the constitution of Zimbabwe amendment number 20 of 2013.

Shurugwi s name was derived from a nearby bare oval granite hill that resembled the shape of a pigpen (selukwe) of the local Karanga people.

It is the centre of gold and chrome mining, the town has seen a resurgence of mining activities after the discovery of platinum at Unki.

It is dominated by the great dyke which disserts it in the middle. It has great rivers Tokwe river locally known as Tungwi which runs in the middle of Rockford farmlands making the area great for agricultural projects in addition to the mineral wealth.

The town comprises of 13 administrative wards

The town has various beauties, amenities, and attractions such as the, Wolfshall Pass commonly known as Boterekwa due to the winding of the road as it negotiates its way up and between mountains. It also has beautiful sight resources such as Peak view, Dunrven falls.
