ADVERT: PUMP ATTENDANT X 2 VACANCY

Shurugwi Town Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill in a vacant post of Pump Attendant.

JOB SUMMARY

To clean water filters and clarifier walls and reservoir walls in line with Shurugwi Town Council’s ethnics, policies and procedures.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Controls water inflows into the works plants.
  • Cleans filters and clarifier walls monthly.
  • Assist in the installation of new water pumps and equipment;
  • Conducts routine checks on treatment units and reports faults to the supervisor
  • Connects and disconnects chlorine and ammonia gas cylinders or dosing pumps.
  • Collect water quality samples for testing and maintain accurate records of test results;
  • Loads and offloads water treatment chemicals.
  • Performs any other duty in the scope of this job as assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Certificate in water and sanitation/equivalent;
  • 5 O Levels including Maths and English;
  • Proven experience as a Water Pump Attendant or in a similar role is preferred;
  • Knowledge of water pump operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting is an added advantage;
  • Basic understanding of water quality parameters and sampling techniques;
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and work in outdoor conditions;
  • Performs any other duty within the scope of the job as assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
